Down the Home Stretch They Come!!!!!!!!
Congratulations on making it to your
senior year! With only one year left it is vital that you put all of
your energy into your academics and future plans. Remember to
stay involved with extra-curricular activities as those will be some of
the most important memories you will take with you as a graduate of
Lee-Scott Academy!
Starting
with the Class of 2009,
all seniors will be required to apply for at least one scholarship
opportunity!!!
Many colleges, including Auburn University, are now requiring the
written protion of the ACT!!!
Important
Information for Seniors:
- Miss Sample will meet with all Seniors during the month of
August. (Watch for an announcement to sign up for your
appointment.)
- Sign up early to take the ACT or SAT. This can be done
during the summer months. Be sure and have your scores sent to
Lee-Scott and the college(s) of your choice. Our CEEB/ACT # is
010-223. www.act.org
- Get applications completed and mailed for the colleges and
universities in which you are interested. You must apply to a college before you send your
transcripts.
- Contact the college or university to set-up an on-campus
visit.
- Be sure to contact those people who you would like to write
letters of recommendation. Provide them with a stamped addressed
envelope and a copy of your resume' or "brag sheet" so they can
personalize your letter. What is a
brag sheet?

Deadlines are fast approaching -
Here are some things you need to consider NOW!
- If you haven't decided on a college, you should narrow your list
by visiting schools and talking with your parents, counselor and
admissions representatives.
- You can compare schools and take virtual campus tours at www.AlabamaMentor.org
- Students who plan to go through Early Decision should check about
deadlines.
- Now is the time to also check with the financial aid offices of
schools to which you are applying to see if they require any other aid
forms besides FAFSA.
- You should familiarize yourself with the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Although you can't file until
January 1st, you should take a look at the information it requires so
you will be ready to file it as soon as you can.
