Château d’If
Webquest, French Level 2
Lee-Scott Academy

Introduction

You have read watched the film and read exceprts from the novel Le Comte de Monte-Cristo.  Coincidentally, you have just found out that you will be spending one night on the island as part of a ghost hunter tour.  You will act as the experts of the group to provide information to the group in case you have any "encounters" that need to be explained.  Complete this webquest to learn more about the historical location you will be visiting.

The Task

Here is a summary of your activities in the webquest:

Resources

The following resources are available for you to use in your research.  You may also use other sources (internet or hard-copy) that you find during your research, but please remember to use appropriate citations.  You need more information than what is included on Wikipedia, so please browse all of the sites below.  The film will be available for you in the classroom if needed.

The Process

To accomplish the task, follow these steps.

  1. Conduct research on a specific topic (assigned to you by your teacher)
  2. Answer the questions on your "fact sheet" provided to you by the teacher
  3. Don't forget to tell where you got your information (citations!)
  4. Summarize your "fact sheet" into a paragraph-style report
  5. Find out what historical people or events could be haunting the island.  You will research a famous person or event (located on your fact sheet) in order to explain some of the hauntings on the island.
  6. Look at the example of the tri-fold poster and read the assessment rubric
  7. Create your poster and come to class prepared to talk about your research topic and hauntings related to it
