Course Description
Lee-Scott Academy
The Course
This course is designed to enable the student to develop his/her
proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and
listening in French approaching on an intermediate level of proficiency
in the language. Students will continue to study important grammar
points and learn the past tense of verbs. A continuation of the study
of the role of culture in language will also be emphasized. Students
completing French Level 2 could expect to have some success traveling
in a French-speaking country as their comprehension and pronunciation
skills will increase. Audio and video materials are used for
practice and
reinforcement. Students should be prepared to practice their use
of language in class through communicative activities.

All students enrolled in French are eligible to become members of the

Thinking Ahead...
French
Honor Society
Students in their 5th semester of French class (corresponding to the
first semester of Level 3) are eligible for induction into the French
Honor Society chapter at Lee-Scott. In addition to facilitating
French Club activities and holding offices, students in the Honor
Society will:
A. Maintain a bulletin board related to the French language
and/or French class
B. Publish one French newsletter per semester
C. Facilitate the organization of any travel abroad
D. Identify an area of service for the school year and plan
related activities/projects
Furthermore, students should understand that the goal of Lee-Scott
Academy is to provide college preparation courses. Serious
students expecting to test out of basic college level foreign language
requirements should consider enrolling in additional French courses
beyond Level 2.
