Secondary Choral Program
LSA's secondary choral program is comprised of three performance groups: "God's Melody" is our 7th and 8th grade chorus who performs classic choral literature and show choir material; "Classic Stage" is a mixed concert choir made up of students in grades seven through twelve who perform classic literature; and "Higher Glory" is a select group of members from "classic Stage" who perform only show choir material.
Choirs participate in fall and spring shows as well as several competitions throughout the year. This past year, the show choir competed in the South Central Classic performing with a live band and received rave reviews from the judges. They earned third-runner-up out of 11 competing groups in their divicision. We were honored to send seven vocalists to participate with more than 1,000 students from throughout Alabama in the All-State choral festival at Samford University. "God's Melody" and "Higher Glory" choirs competed in the Rocky Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Both choirs received Superior Ratings and won their divisions.
Dinner Theater is the annual major fundraiser for the secondary choral program. With the help of parents and volunteers, students performed "A Night on Broadway 2012" for two sold out audiences of over 350 people and raised more than $5,000. This year's holiday Dinner Theatre, "Wonderful Joy", will be held November 30 - December 1.
We are blessed with amazing vocalists, musicians, and performers who continue to take the secondary choral program to the next level.
