How the Process Works

All candidates for admission are considered with care. Admission decisions are individually determined and are based upon academic records, ability, achievement test scores, assessments and interviews. The Admissions Committee considers what our school can offer each candidate and also what contributions the candidate can make to the Lee-Scott Academy family.

Lee-Scott Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its admission policies or its academic, athletic, financial assistance or other school programs.

Start Your Warrior Journey

The admissions process varies slightly with the grade to which the application is made but includes common elements. Choose your student age group:

K4, Kindergarten & 1st Grade

2nd – 6th Grade

7th – 12th Grade

School Visit

Parents interested in enrolling their children in Lee-Scott Academy are encouraged to attend:

  • K4 Admission Informational Meeting
  • Kindergarten Admission Informational Meeting
  • Individual Tour

Application

  • Complete the online application.
    • Applications open January 2026 for 2026-27 school year
  • Pay the application fee.

Admission Assessment

  • The Admissions Office will schedule an appointment for the applicant to be assessed.
  • During the assessment:
    • The assessor will begin the session by getting to know the child, setting a warm and welcoming tone.
    • The child will play games, answer questions, and participate in activities.
    • The assessment setting will include whole group with students listening to a story and playing in pre-selected centers while one-on-one sessions are occurring with teacher/student.  This allows teachers to observe social interaction, school readiness and have one-on-one time to individually get feedback about the child’s abilities from the screening instrument.
  • The testing session will last approximately one hour.
  • Since the child will be entering K4, Kindergarten or 1st grade next year, it is important that he/she be able to separate from parents, spend time with other adults, demonstrate school readiness and interact appropriately with other children.
  • The child is scored according to his/her ability to complete tasks that are age/developmentally appropriate.
  • When the assessment is completed, the assessor will not discuss the results with the parent. The child is brought back to the office by the Director of Admissions to be returned to the parent.

Admission Decision

  • Admission decisions are communicated to the parents after all assessments have been completed.

Grades 2 – 6 Admission Process

  • Complete the online application.
    • Applications open January 2026 for 2026-27 school year
  • Pay the application fee.

 

 

 

Admission Assessment

  • Applicants in grades 2 – 6 take the STAR Reading and STAR Math assessments. The STAR tests are taken on a computer at the school and measure verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, quantitative reasoning and math skills.
  • Testing will be scheduled on an individual or small group basis by the Admissions Office once the application is submitted.
  • The assessment also consists of a writing task. Applicants are asked to respond to a writing prompt.
  • When the assessment is complete, the Admissions Office will not discuss the results with the parent.

Transcript & School Requests Form

  • Sign the Transcript/Records Request Form and email to the Admissions Office at admissions@lee-scott.org .
  • The Admissions Office will request the current school to mail, fax or email the form and a copy of the applicant’s transcript and other school records. The current school must send a copy of the applicant’s transcript. A formal transcript will be requested should the student enroll at LSA.
  • Parents may not hand-deliver the records to LSA.

Applicants in grades 7 – 12 who are homeschooled or enrolled in virtual schools will be required to take the STAR Reading and STAR Math assessments. The STAR tests are taken on a computer at the school and measure verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, quantitative reasoning and math skills.

  • Testing will be scheduled on an individual or small group basis by the Admissions Office once the application is submitted.
  • The assessment also consists of a writing task. Applicants are asked to respond to a writing prompt.

Interview

  • Interviews are informal and will be scheduled by the Admissions Office.
  • Applicants will interview with the Upper School Principal.
  • Applicants will be notified by email of their interview times.
  • Interviews will last approximately 20 – 30 minutes.
  • Out-of-town applicants should contact the Admissions Office regarding interview options.
  • The student interview is key. Students are expected to be able to demonstrate age appropriate conversational and social skills as well as articulate a clear assessment of his/her strengths and weaknesses as a student and thoughts about courses or career interests. They must also be able to share, if accepted, how they will continue to be a positive influence on others as a member of the LSA student body.
