Tuition and Fees
Lee-Scott Academy uses FACTS as our tuition management system.
All families are required to have an account established in FACTS in order to pay tuition and incidental charges (field trip fees, club fees, extra curricular fees, etc.). Families have the option to pay tuition on the 1st, 5th or 10th of the month. Families may choose to pay by check or cash, provided the payment is received in the LSA office at least three business days before the payment date specified in FACTS.
For any late tuition payment, there is a five day grace period after which a $50 late fee is charged. FACTS will charge a $35.00 fee for returned checks. For information about tuition and fees, please contact Mrs. Lynn Waldrip or Mrs. Amanda Thrift.
529 PLAN INFORMATION
What is a 529 plan?
529 college savings plans began in the mid-late 90s and immediately gained popularity as a tax-free way to save for higher education expenses. Within limits, the earnings on 529 plan investments do not incur federal and sometimes also state taxes, as long as you apply the funds to educational expenses (tuition, fees, books, technology, supplies, etc.)
How did the 2018 tax reform bill help the cost of independent school education?
The change in the new tax law has expanded the definition of “qualified expense” for 529 plans to include tuition-based schools. Independent schools that charge tuition will now be considered an eligible expense and families can use up to $10,000 per student per year from their 529 savings.
